...was SO AWESOME! The ninja =Majime and I had such a great time. It was above epic. The city was so huge, and colorful, and full of adventures and entertainment...I never knew where to look or what to take pictures of first--although I managed to get OVER 200 pictures, mind you. There's absolutely no way I can transcribe all the awesomeness that happened while we were running unchecked around Manhattan, but I can attempt to describe some of my favorite and most memorable occurrences of the trip.


Highlights:

+ Experiencing the passion, tragedy and romance that was seeing The Phantom of the Opera live on Broadway, in the beautiful Majestic Theater. [link] It was so magnificent and moving and gorgeous that I literally cried twice--during the overture and the revealing of the full grandeur of the Opéra Populaire, and while Christine and Raoul sang "All I Ask of You" together. <3 (The ninja saw Avenue Q instead - [link] )

+ Having a drunk, green-clad Irishman half-stagger up to me on 5th Avenue during the St. Patrick's Day Parade [link] and place a sombrero on my head, on top of the shiny green cap I was already wearing. I wore that sombrero [link] the rest of the day until it was time for Broadway, at which point I took it off during the show, and later wore it home on the subway and got some pretty funny looks. This sombrero ended up being part of my coming-home gift to *AcidConfetti, the best illegal (Canadian) immigrant ever.

+ Feeling like an even littler kid than usual while prancing around the Nintendo World store in Rockefeller Plaza, picking out pokemon and other souvenirs to share with those stuck in Florida. [link] [link] [link]

+ Making silly poses in front of various portraits of the nobility at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in order to show my great love of fancy French art. [link] [link] [link] [link]

+ Shopping in East Village, in stores like Toy Tokyo and Trash & Vaudeville (which can only be described as Hot Topic on crack...in a good kind of way), then having a delicious boba tea at TKettle afterwards (which made me ill...but that's beside the point.) [link] [link]

+ Actually seeing all the dead stuff we've been learning about in my Fossils and the History of Life class [link] at the Museum of Natural History [link] [link] where we also found Facepalm Indian [link] .
